First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at BetterUp.
Enterprise Sales
had a bunch of interviews over weeks, took like 8-10 hours total, not counting prep. they had me do presentations, role-play, and research on people in charge at companies that aren't clients yet but they want to sell to. also asked for my ideas on how to grow the business, which they could actually use. i got through 10 rounds and had approval from 9 people, including my direct manager. the head of sales didn't like one of my answers and passed on me. turns out most of the people i interviewed with aren't there anymore (super high turnover), except the head of sales. at least they were upfront that the company's mission and culture don't really align with the sales group, which is kinda rough considering how many on the sales team struggle with mental health and balance because of the pressure from BetterUp.
- They asked me to sign an NDA, so I can't share the questions.
Sales Leader
The interview process was structured and very intentional. It started with a screen with the recruiter, followed by the hiring manager, then a panel interview, and finally an executive interview. I can't fault the process and appreciate the effort the company puts into selecting the right candidate. The interviewers were smart, mission-driven (especially the experienced ones), and cared about their company culture. However, the communication, especially regarding the final decision, was very poor, confusing, and set broken expectations. This was compounded by excuses about how fast they are moving and how busy everyone is, making their actions incongruent with the values they rigorously tested for. You learn more about cultural identity during challenging times, and my experience ultimately left me feeling their culture and values were hollow in key areas.

Sales
The interview process at BetterUp was really great, super smooth, and one of the best I've experienced. I liked interviewing with different people to get a real feel for the company, team, and their dedication to success. The recruiter was awesome, always keeping me updated, answering questions, and clearly explaining what to expect next. Most of the interviews involved behavioral questions. This role requires 10+ years of experience.
- Tell me about something you were most proud of accomplishing in your previous position.
