So basically there were two technical rounds. The first was like a screening call checking on programming concepts and patterns. The second one was a pair programming session, we had like an hour to build a small feature in a cloud IDE. Then after that, there was a remote 'onsite' that had 4 interviews focused on behavior and culture, touching on different areas, with some technical stuff mixed in. Lastly, I had a quick chat with the CTO, which was mostly a behavioral interview.
- Can you discuss CI/CD?
- Can you discuss Feature Flags?
- Can you talk about your previous experiences?

Got a bunch of emails about the hiring process, so I thought why not. It kicked off with an HR call where we chatted about my background, what I'm looking for salary-wise, and the company itself. She then set up two interviews for the same week: one with the hiring manager and another with an engineer for some pair programming. Turns out the 'hiring manager' interview was actually with another engineer, and they hit me with questions on automation, Docker, SPAs, and other stuff. I managed to answer them, but I wasn't really prepped for it since I thought it was with the hiring manager. The second one was the pair programming. The interviewer seemed pretty serious from the start and not thrilled to be there. He asked if I got the GitHub repo link from the recruiter, which I hadn't, as nobody sent me anything. Apparently, they were supposed to send me the code and challenge description beforehand, but that didn't happen. I did manage to finish the test, though the code wasn't flawless. I felt like he totally disregarded that I was at a disadvantage compared to others who got the full brief. In the end, I got a generic rejection email, no feedback at all.
- Could you share an upside and downside of single-page applications?
- What's your approach to creating an MVP?
- What value do you add to a team?

A recruiter hit me up for a gig at Betterup. About two weeks later, I got a heads-up about an interview scheduled for that same afternoon. I had to hustle to make it work and ended up chatting with a recruiter. It was pretty standard stuff. I talked about my background, the tech I use like Ruby, Python, Node, and Devops. Then, the recruiter asked about what I liked about the company's values and other similar questions. Since I didn't have much time to prep, I just said I wanted to work with good people and make a positive impact. The recruiter seemed to think I should have known more about the company, which wasn't super clear from their site. Apparently, the main thing was being into coaching, taking coaching, and loving all things coaching. Honestly, it felt a bit like a sales pitch for coaching, with all the talk about the company's 'coaching kool-aid.' They let me know the next day I wasn't moving forward, which is whatever, especially since they reached out to me first.
- What excites you about our company, coaching, and the prospect of working here?
- What do you love about coaching?
- Why do you want to work with us?
