I was contacted by a recruiter for a contract coaching role. It involved extensive paperwork and about 8-10 hours of training videos and exercises. Then, I had to do a mock coaching session, simulating a second session with a member. BetterUp didn't provide any feedback on the mock session. I was supposed to have 20 minutes, but the interviewer spent 10 minutes talking about herself, leaving me little time for coaching practice. I emailed support a few times with questions and got incorrect info. For example, I received the wrong mock client details and session format. When I asked about moving forward, I was congratulated and told yes, then a few days later told to disregard the mock session info. Afterward, I was told I wasn't moving forward and to ignore the previous email. It was disorganized and confusing. They seem to be doing meaningful work, so hopefully, their hiring process improves.

Started with an online form, then a video chat with someone from Coach Operations. After that, there was a lengthy onboarding process to get familiar with the company's platform and do some e-learnings on their tool for assessing people. This was followed by an actual coaching session where I had to use the BetterUp WholePerson Model and debrief with an experienced coach. After that, I got the offer, and then there were more e-learnings because there's a ton of material to go through.

The hiring process involved an intensive online training module which had a really bad interface. After that, there was a mock coaching session with a random coach from BetterUp. It's weird because this company is all about psychological safety and feedback, but they didn't give any feedback or human interaction during the training. They also pay really low for a job that needs a lot of skill, basically hiring coaches who are desperate for money. Honestly, it was a super frustrating experience.
