I talked with their talent manager for an initial chat about my background and tech skills. Then I had a technical phone screen which went well and led to an invitation for an on-site interview. The on-site started late, with a technical coding problem presented by an engineer. We discussed the solution's performance, though I couldn't fully code it due to time constraints. Next, I met with an engineering manager who seemed disengaged and ended the interview early. A few days later, I got a generic rejection email saying they needed someone with more experience. The whole experience gave me the impression they think they're a top-tier company looking for exceptional candidates, but their open roles suggest they struggle to find them.

Behavioral Technical Coding

After applying online, I got an email to schedule an initial phone interview with HR. They asked about why I wanted to work there and my motivations. Then, I got another email for a technical phone interview with a software architect. After that, I was invited onsite for a final technical/behavioral interview with the VP of engineering, director of engineering, and a software architect. It felt more like a chat. Finally, I did a whiteboard coding challenge with the software architect.

So, first thing was a 30 min phone screen. Then I had this coding thing I had to do on my own time, took me about 4-8 hours depending on how much effort I put in. The in-person interviews were actually pretty cool, I really liked them. I felt like I got to be creative and still had fun. A couple days after that, the staffing agency called me and said the company thought I couldn't handle an open office, which is a super weird thing to say and I'm not sure what that means. It was like a total non-answer, and honestly I think there was another reason they passed. Maybe it was about salary, or maybe they thought I wouldn't be a good culture fit. But anyway, it was a great environment and I would have loved to work there.
