Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Better.

You gotta submit your resume first, then there's like an initial screening, then a phone interview, after that a technical assessment, and then an onsite interview. Finally, they do a reference check. The whole point is to show your skills, knowledge, and if you're a good cultural fit. You gotta communicate effectively and confidently. Just prepare for the common questions they ask.
- Tell me about your interest in this position.
- Can you describe a project that was challenging?
- How do you manage working under pressure?

The interview process was pretty straightforward. Started with some basic questions like 'tell me about yourself,' 'your expectations,' and 'why you want to join.' Then, it got a bit more technical with questions about the 'DTI 5C of underwriting,' 'how to handle difficult situations,' and a hypothetical about a colleague getting a promotion over you.
- Could you start by telling us about yourself?
- What are your expectations for this role?
- What is your motivation for wanting to join our team?

My interview experience was really bad, even though I thought it went well. The interviewer even complimented my research on the company, so I was surprised to get rejected. It's frustrating because people put time into preparing, and I could understand if I had answered questions poorly, but getting complimented and then rejected is disheartening. It feels like there's no humanity, and no one cares. Even if you give your best, you might not get selected for reasons like they found someone with more relevant skills. If this is how you operate, don't bother with tests or interviews. It's wrong to give people hope when you don't intend to follow through. Companies should show the humanity they talk about in job descriptions, not just for show. From what I gathered, the first step was a test, then a first interview, and possibly two more interview rounds, but I'm not sure because I didn't move forward.
