Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Betsson Group.
Front End Software Engineer
So, the interview process started with an introductory call with HR, which lasted about 30 minutes. After that, I had an online test that I successfully passed. The second round was an interview with the hiring manager, although two developers ended up joining instead of the hiring manager. Then, there was another technical interview which I also passed. The final stage was an interview with the delivery manager for the specific domain. In the end, I felt the environment and culture at Betsson weren't a good fit for me.
- Can you explain the difference between POST and GET HTTP methods?
User Experience Developer
My interview with Betsson was a great experience, they were super supportive and flexible. They even gave me more time for the technical exercise because I was short on time. I met some cool people and we had a relaxed chat. The technical interview was front-end focused but only asked Angular questions. They didn't ask about HTML semantics, document structure, DOM manipulation, CSS architecture, assets management, CSS, JS processors, browsers, responsiveness, UX, or testing. I think focusing too much on one tech doesn't show the full picture of a candidate's skills. The job post was clear, but the role felt different in the interview. Things listed as 'Nice To Have' in the post were actually 'Must Have' and vice versa.
- Can you explain how controllers interact with each other in Angular?
- What exactly is a controller in the context of Angular?
- Could you define what a service is within Angular?
Software Engineer
The interview process was pretty standard, with 3 main rounds plus an initial HR call. The first round was a casual chat with HR to get a feel for you. After that, there was a test involving both theoretical and practical tasks. If you passed, you moved on to the second round where you had to show off your technical skills. The final round focused on your soft skills and how you'd deal with different scenarios. The whole thing felt pretty relaxed and informal, which definitely helped ease the pressure. Overall, it was a positive interview experience.
- Can you elaborate on your knowledge of .Net and C# and the depth of your expertise in these technologies?
- Describe your strategy for approaching and managing errors in given scenarios.
- Could you explain the inner workings of asynchronous programming?
