First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at BET.
Internship
I applied online for Viacom internships. About a month later, a talent recruiter called me for a phone interview. It was pretty relaxed and asked about my background, goals, and experience to figure out placement. She mentioned a potential internship with BET and that she'd forward my resume. A week after that, BET got in touch and set up an in-person interview with four interviewers. They asked similar things as the recruiter, plus BET-specific questions. It was easy if you know about BET and entertainment. The interview went smoothly, no need to be stressed. I got the offer two weeks later.
- Can you tell me about your career goals?
- What are some of your favorite shows?
- What makes you interested in BET?
Marketing Intern
I applied through the Viacom Career Services website. First, I talked to the college recruiter who then connected me with possible internship openings in different companies. Next, I was in touch with a supervisor for a phone interview. After that, the supervisor called me for an in-person interview at the office. I met her in a conference room, and it was formal but relaxed, making me feel at ease. She asked about my school and work background and how it might fit the internship role.
- Can you design an experiential event for one of BET's shows?
- Could you tell me a little about yourself?
Marketing Director
The interview started with a FaceTime call. The interviewer was very direct with their questions. They took their time to ensure I had detailed knowledge of the company and its history. They were friendly and forthcoming about their hiring process, which helped put my mind at ease. They began and ended the interview by asking me personal questions about my family, schooling, and life experiences.
- Can you name three significant historical milestones for BET in the past five years?
Content Creator
We talked with the hiring manager and an HR person. We went over my resume and work history. I learned about the brand, their competitors, and what the company is doing to get better. I also met with other people in the department to get a feel for the team culture. We also discussed how the department works with other departments and the future of the company.
- What makes you want to join BET?
