Teaching Assistant
The interview process for a teaching assistant involved a demo of teaching ability, assessing communication skills in various situations, and discussing prior experiences. The interview was straightforward and not overly complicated, focusing on practical skills and adaptability.
- Can you tell me about any prior teaching or mentoring experience you have?
Tutor
I applied online, uploaded my cover letter and resume. Got an email back super fast, within 2 hours, to set up a phone interview. The phone interview was pretty basic, mostly asking about my experience tutoring, how I work with others, what I'm studying, and my availability. They scheduled an in-person interview right after. When I got there for the in-person one, they immediately gave me a math test. Some of it was a bit tough, and I had to leave a few problems blank because I didn't remember the info. After the test, they asked me what I knew about the company, what I was comfortable tutoring, and my availability again. Then, they had me explain a couple of math problems to see how I teach. I got the job offer via email the next day.
- Given our company values are ---, ---, and ---, which one best describes you as a potential employee?
- What's your understanding of BC as a company?
English Enrichment Instructor
The interview process had multiple stages, like a phone interview and then an in-person one. The phone part is pretty standard, but the in-person interview includes a teaching demonstration. It's not too hard, but you should be ready for it. Most of it is pretty normal, though.
- How would you manage a student who is acting out?
- What strategies would you use to deal with a student exhibiting concerning behavior?
English Tutor
They asked me about my academic background and future aspirations. Then, I had to take a 10th grade English test to see how good I am. We also went over what to expect and how to navigate the program.
- What was your SAT/ACT score?
