Interview processes can vary depending on the state and the position you are interviewing for. For entry level, state positions, you can typically expect a phone screening, followed by a virtual or in person interview with the direct supervisor. Often times a second interview may be scheduled with teammates.

The interview experience was pretty good. I liked the office atmosphere – it felt open and airy, which made me think it’d be a place where people communicate a lot. The interview itself was pretty standard; I talked about my background, experience, and strengths. But, like most interviews, it really comes down to the connection you make with the interviewer. We connected, but I think the interviewer felt I wouldn't be happy with the salary. The salary was lower than what the responsibilities of the position would normally warrant, but I heard it's pretty standard for a non-profit. My interviewer called me the day after she said she would, which I found unprofessional and super frustrating, but she was very nice when she told me I didn't get the job. I wasn't too impressed in the end, especially since I made it to a second interview and then found out 24 hours later than I should have that I didn't get selected.

I initially applied for a different role, but due to an email mishap regarding my availability for a call, someone else got hired. However, they had another opening, so I interviewed for that. The first person I spoke with didn't ask me any questions but instead explained the role and asked if I wanted to proceed to the next stage, which involved a "personality test" or "fit test." Honestly, it was quite underwhelming compared to others I've taken. It only had two really vague questions: 'How do you think people perceive you?' and 'How do you perceive yourself?' with about 150 options where you could pick as many as you liked. I think they could be more organized; my email about my availability got lost, costing me that first chance. After waiting around 5 days for the test link, I had to email them again. Then I waited another 3 days.

I had a phone interview and then a Skype interview. We had to do the phone interview twice because the interviewer lost his notes from the first one. I was really interested in the role, but the lack of communication and organization really put me off the opportunity. Even though I reached out several times after my interviews, I never got a formal response about the job status. I was disappointed because I'd heard great things about Best Buddies--it seemed like they were going through a lot of changes and had a lot happening at the office at the time that made things more hectic than usual.
