First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Berkley Technology Services.
Software Engineer
Had 4 interviews for the job. Initially, I was told I wasn't technical enough. Then, they called me back a few weeks later because they realized they were understaffed. I interviewed with the same people twice and they asked the same questions. I found out the manager isn't familiar with the system and managers move around a lot – one manager I interviewed with had changed roles 6 times in his 8 years there, indicating a lack of stability. HR denied me because they were fixated on a prior non-compete agreement from a completely different industry and wouldn't review it. They were worried I'd recruit from my previous job, even though I wouldn't be in management and wouldn't risk getting sued.

Software Engineer
I got an email to answer some questions about my experience and work authorization. I sent them back. After about two weeks, I got another email to book an interview slot from the options they gave. I picked a few, but didn't get an invite. A week later, they emailed again asking me to book slots for the next week, which I did. This time, the invite came the day before. The virtual interview started, and the interviewers didn't seem very welcoming. They asked me to introduce myself and asked about my work authorization again. I told them I was on an OPT visa, which allows me to work for three years without sponsorship. The interviewer then said they needed someone permanent who wouldn't need sponsorship and ended the interview. I was very disappointed after all the prep and waiting.
- Could you introduce yourself?
Software Engineer
I had a phone screen with the recruiter. Then, there was a first interview focused on general coding questions. The second interview was a coding interview with three engineers. The third interview was a behavioral interview with three people who were higher ups. All interviews were about 45 minutes long. The questions were generally related to my experience, and the coding questions were also tied to my experience, especially if I didn't have a CS degree.

- Did you have any coding questions based on your experience?
- What coding questions were asked that relate to your experience?
