First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Berkadia.
Software Developer
I had a quick interview process. It started with a recruiter screening, then a video call with the tech manager, and finally an in-person meeting with the team lead and some other developers. The interviews focused on my skills and asked questions about problem-solving and how I work with others.
- Can you describe how you would design a REST API for high traffic and data volume?
Senior Software Engineer
I had a phone interview first to go over the company's direction, what the job expects and check my resume. Then, I went onsite for an interview where they focused on whether I'd fit the culture and my technical skills.
- Could you explain what a micro-service is?
- What are your strategies for writing code that's easy to maintain?
- Can you share an instance where you received feedback or criticism? What was it about, and how did you handle it?
Software Engineer
I applied for a developer position requiring 2+ years of experience through a staffing agency. The entire process took place in a single day. It began with a written test containing 13 questions, including 3 small programming tasks. I answered 10 questions correctly. A female HR representative evaluated my answers, despite lacking technical knowledge of the specific technology and programming logic. They seemed to rely on memorized solutions found online. If a program was written using a different, yet correct, logic, it was not accepted. Two of my programs, which were logically sound, were incorrectly marked as wrong. When I pointed this out, she put my resume on the rejected list and told me to leave for the day. I would advise avoiding this type of interview.
