I applied for a job on the local multifamily team. I went through 3 rounds of interviews: first a phone screen with a recruiter, then an interview with the hiring manager, and finally an interview with the hiring manager's manager. The 4th and final interview was supposed to be an in-person meeting with the team, but it got canceled unexpectedly due to some internal team issues. I never heard back from them after that, even though they said I was their top candidate. To the recruiting team: it would be nice to have the courtesy to let candidates know when they've been rejected so they can move on. Ghosting people, especially those who came with referrals, makes the company look bad.

The interview process took forever. I applied online and they scheduled a phone interview with an HR employee a week later. It was a half-hour interview with questions regarding my previous work experience, responsibilities, why I want to work at Berkadia, and what I know about the company. In the end, I was told to contact him (the HR employee who interviewed me) whenever I had any questions. I did send an email with a question, but I got no response. After over 2 weeks I received an email with another interview scheduled with an Art Director. The interview was more like a chat relating to the work process, and design. The second interview experience was much more positive and I felt confident. I was told I would hear back about the next step of the interview process within the next 1-2 weeks and that if I had any questions in the meantime to get in touch with my assigned HR employee. Well, I didn't hear back anything after 2 weeks so I sent an email to the HR person to check in. No response again. Finally, after a month from my second interview, I received a phone call from the HR employee. I was told that they had to put the interview process on pause and they would start back up after the Holidays and that would be the last interview. I was patient and waited again. I sent an email asking about any updates. No response. Almost 2 months after the second interview and a month after the phone call I received an email that they moved forward with someone else. I understand that an interview process can take sometimes a long time and that Holidays can slow things down. I just don't understand why the HR employee never tried to respond to my questions or give me information about the updates.

Applied on LinkedIn and heard back about 2 weeks later. The interview process had 3 interviews. The first was with talent acquisition to discuss general stuff and what's next. They could answer questions about the program and company culture. The second interview was a week later and was technical. Given a fictional property, I had to calculate needed info for NOI and say if my client should invest. The third interview was another week later with the team and was behavioral, lasting an hour.

  • Given a 120 unit property, please calculate the NOI for years 1-3 assuming hiring X marketing and X maintenance staff and increasing rent by $XXX per unit evenly. Note that some information is missing, so use critical thinking.
  • Based on your calculations, would you advise investing in this property? Please explain your reasoning.

Don't waste your time on this company! I spent over a month of my time and energy investing into a role that I was really passionate about. I had to go through 3 interviews - recruiter, director, and vice President/director. All of the interviews were pretty much the same and I felt like I was repeating myself. I aced all the interviews with strong communication, good questions, and I truly proved to them why I was the best candidate for the role. I was even following up to stay in touch with the recruiter. It took them more than a week to send me an AUTOMATED email to say "we went with another candidate". Also to note, during both of the video interviews, I had good feedback and positive confirmation that I was doing great and they liked me. This shows that they have no respect/care for their potential employees. I was stressing the entire month because I really wanted and needed this job- the least they could have done was send me a direct email with feedback. Per interviews already listed, this is a common thing for this company. I wonder what their work environment is like if their interview process is a disaster. Thank you to the marketing team that didn't hire me because I know I will find a company worth my time.
