The hiring process at Bending Spoons is a bit different from others I've experienced. It was actually enjoyable and really made me think. Instead of just doing lots of LeetCode problems, the assessments truly push you to think from the ground up. It feels like they're really checking how well you reason and what your potential is, not just if you can remember stuff. What made a big difference too were the interviewers. They were super nice and made the live parts feel way less nerve-wracking. It felt more like chatting with people you might work with, not like a strict interview.

I bailed after the first test. The whole thing is automated via email, no real person until the end. First up is a 45-minute proctored test using your camera, mic, and whole screen – not just the browser, the ENTIRE screen. It covers basic logic and programming stuff. You have to sign an NDA before you start, which basically threatens legal action in Milan if you talk about the test questions. They're clearly trying to stop people sharing how invasive this is. Honestly, if you need this level of spying to hire engineers, something's seriously wrong with your process. I'm not signing up to work somewhere that treats people like criminals.

Finally, they asked for 3 references. It's important to show interest in the domain, and prior experience isn't necessary. Being logical and quick-witted is key.
