I got a call from someone. I was spontaneously contacted by phone for a 30-minute interview. I was asked only a few questions, and I didn't get much information about the job. The job posting said it was 100% remote, but that wasn't what I was told.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

After applying, I had a 1-hour phone interview with two managers from the Genomics division. We talked about my background and the job details. It was professional, maybe a little too formal, but I liked them. Then I got invited for a face-to-face meeting in London. This was supposed to be 3.5 hours long and included a 30-minute presentation from me. I asked about travel expenses since I had to fly from Germany and my PhD studies weren't paying well. The HR department seemed unprepared for this. I booked the trip anyway because the job sounded great. Twelve days before the interview, they emailed saying it might be postponed because of a manager's schedule. I called HR, explaining I'd already taken time off and booked travel. They were nice and said they'd check with the hiring manager. A week before, they confirmed by email that it was definitely postponed. No travel costs were offered, but they asked if they could contact me later for rescheduling. I said no.

The interview process went well. Although I wish I could have seen the facility, everyone was very friendly and explained the job process clearly. The process took a bit longer than usual, and I didn't receive any updates for a while.
