First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Bechtel Plant Machinery.
Mechanical Engineer
I had a phone screening/interview first, then a second interview that could have been virtual or in person. I went to their Monroeville office where I was briefed, interviewed with a pair of unit managers, talked with a current engineer, and had lunch with my host manager over the course of 3-4 hours. It was pleasant, timely, and well organized.
- Can you describe a situation where you faced competing priorities and explain how you managed your tasks?
- Tell me about a time you had conflicting priorities and how you handled your workload.
Mechanical Engineer
It was a two step process. Step 1 was a phone interview where we talked about the position and they matched my resume to the job requirements. I got to explain my specific skills and how they fit the role. Step 2 was an in-person interview. This lasted for three hours and had multiple parts covering benefits, the job description, and my skill sets. The most interesting part was a panel interview with three engineers. They asked six questions to see how my experience fits their needs.
- Tell me about how you conduct yourself and react in specific situations.
- What are some examples of your time management skills?
- Can you share an instance where your actions had a direct impact on a project?
Mechanical Engineer Intern
The interview was long and had multiple parts. It started with HR, then some questions, followed by a panel interview, and then more questions with a different person. I had to ask a lot of questions to fill the time. The people were very nice.
- Can you tell me about your time management skills?
