Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at BDA Partners.
M&A Analyst Intern
Started with an online test / application questions about motivations, start date, and visa eligibility. Then a behavioural interview with a VP and an M&A technical interview with associates. Finally, an AC (assessment centre) round.
- Why investment banking division?
- Why are you a good fit?
- What is Enterprise Value?
M&A Intern
Took an online test and heard back 3 months later. The job description for the intern role only mentioned basic finance knowledge, but the interview questions were very in-depth, like for someone with actual working experience. It was also very unprofessional because they just ghosted the candidate without a proper rejection email.
- How do you convince a client to accept your valuation?
Investment Banking Analyst
So there were 4 rounds in total. First round was a 45 minute interview with a director. Then there was a 45 minute interview with 3 Managing Directors where I spoke with each for about 15 minutes back to back. Then there was a 2 hour 6 boxer/strip profile test. Lastly, there was a 1 hour modeling test.
- Can you explain a Discounted Cash Flow (DCF)?
- Could you outline the three conventional methods for valuation?
- An investor in a specific industry, would they favor an asset deal or an equity deal?
