The interviewer was really nice and the interview went well. They tried to move the interview time up earlier on the interview day, but I missed the email so it didn't happen. Otherwise, everything was normal and the questions were typical.

So, for this Software Engineer role, first I had to go through resumes and do initial phone screenings to see who had the right skills. Then, the folks who got through that had to do a coding test, and after that, a technical interview to see how they solve problems. We also did a behavioral interview to check out communication and teamwork, and then a panel interview to see how they handle different viewpoints.

The interview process primarily involved test questions that didn't seem geared towards selecting a high-quality software engineer. Coming from a decacorn company with a selection system very focused on the field, I was surprised. Tech giants like FAANG, Traveloka, Bukalapak, and Shopee typically assess knowledge of data structures (Binary, Stack, Queue, LinkedList), algorithms (Sorting, KMP, Rabin-Karp, Boyer-Moore, etc.), dynamic programming, or pattern/system design, as these are widely used in selecting prospective software engineers.
