First, there was a recruiter call to chat about your background, experience, and career goals. They went over your resume, basic qualifications, what you expect from the role, the company culture, and practical stuff like salary, when you can start, and location. The goal was to see if you're a good fit to keep going. Then, you had an interview with the hiring manager, who would be your direct supervisor. This part really dug into your technical skills, how you solve problems, your past work, and how you handle real challenges. They also checked if your skills match what the team needs and the job's duties. Lastly, there was a team interview with your potential colleagues. This was to see how well you work with others, share your ideas, and if you'd fit the team's vibe and culture. It might have involved behavioral questions, talking through scenarios, or doing group activities to check teamwork, flexibility, and how you interact with people.

You will have a virtual interview with the Principal Investigator (PI) where they will ask you some basic questions. If you do well in that interview, then one to two weeks later you'll be invited for an in-person interview. During the in-person interview, you'll meet the team members one by one, so take this chance to ask any questions you may have. Everyone on the team is very nice and straightforward.

After I sent in my resume, I got a call within a week for a first phone chat. The recruiter looked over my background and seemed to really like my experience, which made me feel good about what was next. A few days after that call, I was given a coding challenge to do. It was a fair test of my skills, not too hard but needed some problem-solving. I liked that I could show what I know technically. The last interview was a bit tougher, with the hiring manager and two people from the team.

I applied in December and didn't hear back about scheduling an interview until the first week of February. I had 2 interviews within a week with the team and was told to be on the lookout for an email with next steps. I waited almost 2 weeks and didn't hear back - I reached out for an update and finally got a response that they were no longer continuing with hiring for the position. Pretty disappointed considering the 2 interviews and the recruiter reaching out to my references.
