Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Baxter.
Finance Analyst
The interview process involved 4 interviews, broken down into 2 rounds with 2 interviews in each round. It was entirely behavioral. They focused heavily on understanding your motivation for wanting to join Baxter and why it stands out as a preferred employer. You'll be asked to discuss your resume and detail your relevant experiences. Be prepared to ask questions, as they allocate a significant portion of time (around 20 minutes) for this. It seemed like they might intentionally conclude early to observe how you manage the conversation.
- Why Baxter?
- What makes Baxter a top choice for you?
- Can you discuss your resume?
Financial Analyst
The whole process from applying to interviewing took about 3 weeks. I had 4 interviews, each lasting 45 minutes, with 4 different managers. No HR was involved. Everyone was super nice. The interviews were mostly behavioral, but some managers asked tough technical finance questions like NPV, IRR, and how to make a scorecard. If your background is more accounting than finance, these might be hard. They also asked about teamwork and what fun activities I've done. The people were very nice though.
- Which is the better ratio, NPV or IRR?
- What key information should a scorecard for a business unit include?
- How would you handle a situation where you need to collaborate with colleagues who are resistant to working with you?
Finance Analyst
After the initial phone screening, the rest of the interview process was pretty straightforward. It included questions about my knowledge of the company, my past work experience, and some technical questions. My main complaint is the really long time it took for them to get back to me with any kind of feedback, which made me wonder about how reliable and honest they are.
- Can you tell me what you know about our company?
- What can you share about your previous work experience?
- Do you have any technical questions?
