Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Battery Ventures.
Externship
There were two interview rounds. The first interview was a technical screen where they asked behavioral questions and grilled me on my resume. The second round was purely conversational. I think the decisions about who gets the externship are based on your referral/school, since outside of a few BYU kids, there were no kids outside of the T25.
- Can you tell me about your hobby?
Summer Intern
I had a phone chat with someone who works there. They mainly asked about my past experiences and how I've handled problems. It was all behavioral, no hard technical stuff or tricky questions.
- Can you explain your interest in Battery Ventures and how your background fits with what they're looking for?
Extern
You'll have a quick 15-minute chat with one of the senior folks on the program. They'll want to hear about what you think are the big tech trends and if you're a good fit for VC. If you've worked on deals before and can talk about it, that's a big plus and a good reason for applying.
- Why are you interested in Venture Capital?
- Can you discuss a major tech trend you've been following, specifically regarding the types of tech/software companies receiving funding?
- What attracts you to Battery?
