I sent in my application online. The first step was a call where they inquired about my professional history and current projects. It had a few technical elements, but nothing too demanding. I also took the opportunity to ask them about the product and the role itself. Although the conversation went smoothly, and I felt a good connection with the person I spoke with, I was ultimately rejected with a standard message stating that my profile wasn't the right fit. I tried to get more details, as my profile was clearly sufficient for the initial interview, but my follow-up email was not answered.

So I had this phone interview first with the lead engineer for the project I'd be working on. He asked a bunch about my background, the languages and methods I used, and just a few basic technical questions. Then, within an hour, they asked me to come in for an on-site interview. The same person from the phone interview met me, gave me a tour, and then led me to a room where I'd be meeting several other people one by one. It was basically meeting 5 different people, each for about 30-45 minutes, back to back for 3 hours straight. The questions weren't super hard, but it was pretty intense with people just cycling through.
