First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Bastian Solutions.
Senior Design Engineer
I talked with HR and the Engineering Manager. They were nice enough during the meeting, but honestly, their communication outside of that was pretty bad. The secretary mentioned my emails got lost a few times. Even after they said I was moving on, I heard nothing. I emailed them twice more, but since they couldn't even keep emails straight or bother to reply, I just decided this wasn't the place for me.
- What are your long-term career aspirations?
- Can you tell me about your familiarity with our product line?
Project Engineer
I applied on their website and a recruiter got back to me right away. We had a chat and she moved me forward to talk with the Hiring manager and a senior employee over the phone. After that, I had to go to their HQ in Indianapolis for a final interview. On the interview day, I first talked for an hour with a potential coworker about his job and what my job would be. Then, the hiring manager and two other potential coworkers and I went to lunch. We were supposed to do a site tour, but it got canceled. Then, I had the actual interview with 7 people: the President, Hiring Manager, and HR Rep. Four people, including the President, were on via conference call. The President asked most of the questions, and the ones that really mattered. A few days later, the HR Rep called me to let me know they were going with someone else.
- Do you genuinely see yourself in this industry, and how would you manage the significant learning curve?
- Can you describe a time you had to inform a customer they were mistaken?
- When involved in a team project, what role do you typically take on?
Project Engineer
The interview started with a phone call that included some basic questions. Following that, I was asked some technical questions related to project management and process control. Finally, I was asked for my opinions on overnight shifts and travel percentages.
- How do you handle difficulties?
- What's your perspective on working overnight shifts?
- What percentage of travel are you open to?
