First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Bastian Solutions.
Control Engineer
The interview process was quick and short, though there was a delay in getting a response. It consisted of two rounds, primarily with senior managers and directors. The questions were straightforward, focusing on past experience and knowledge of coding languages. They also asked about my willingness to travel.
- Can you share an experience you had?
- Tell me about your previous work.
- How much do you know about coding languages?
Applications Support Analyst
I talked to a Recruiter who seemed really enthusiastic about the Company and the Job. Then I had a Phone Interview with the Manager and two other people. After that, I never got any feedback. Seems like a pattern based on other reviews! I got the impression they were mainly looking to see what I looked like. It would have been helpful if the Manager had let me know if I didn't hear back within a week that they weren't moving forward. They know I'm capable, they just needed to put a face to the resume! I bet they're still trying to find people who just agree with everything.
- Can you answer basic SQL questions?
- Can you take data from multiple tables and quickly generate reports to identify product/process issues?
Implementation Analyst
So first, I had a phone screening with a recruiter. Then, I had to do a SQL assessment on my own. After that, we had a 30-minute video call where I had to complete a ~20 question SQL assessment with an interviewer, which felt rushed. Later, there was a panel interview with 6 people asking questions. They were polite, but many questions felt like trick questions. I was told the team positions were filled, which seemed dishonest given they initially said they were hiring a lot for this role. Transparency wasn't a priority, and it felt like a waste of time.
- Estimate how many tennis balls would fit inside a car.
Computer Vision Engineer
Interview started with one HR round to answer my questions. Then, I had an interview with all the team and the manager, where they asked me technical questions about Computer Vision/Software Engineering, and my background. After that I had an interview with different team leads and the VP of research and development. It was more of a behavioral interview. Got the job but eventually decided to move back to France instead. Would totally recommand the team though !
- Could you explain polymorphism?
- What are your thoughts on computer vision, and can you describe the two main approaches?
- What challenges arise when processing LiDAR data for localization?
