Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Baruch College.
Graduate Student
The process started with looking over my application, then there was a short interview online. We talked about my school stuff, classes I took and how I solve problems. Also talked about what I like, working with others and my plans for the future. It was a pretty easy chat, mostly about if I'd be a good fit and if I was motivated, not really a technical test.

Graduate Assistant
I submitted my application through the website link. About two weeks later, I was contacted for an interview. Although I didn't get the offer initially, the candidate who was offered the position before me backed out, so I was then offered the job. I began at the start of the semester and continued working throughout the year.
- Can you tell me about your previous work experiences?
- How do you find working as part of a team?
- What makes you want this specific role?
Graduate Assistant
I sent in my application via email. A staff member reached out the next day to set up the interview. The interview lasted about 30 minutes. The interviewer explained the department's goals and available positions. We discussed my background and why I'm interested in the role. I asked about the biggest challenge of the internship, and they mentioned the need to learn quickly due to the campus's busy schedule. No curveballs, just a positive vibe. The staff were friendly. Still waiting to hear back.
- Have you worked in a team before?
- Do you have any experience planning events?
- What motivates you to work here?
