Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Barton Associates.
Recruitment Consultant
Had a basic interview. They asked me about my previous work history, my college experience, and my previous sales experience. A degree and previous sales experience are preferred. They explained the job, talked about the responsibilities, and asked me questions about the role. I was offered the job on the spot.
- Tell me about your past sales experience, and how you deal with rejection. How do you see yourself performing in a high-volume sales role?
- Describe your previous sales experience, how you handle rejection, and how you think you’ll do in a heavy sales position?
Recruiter
I had a quick phone chat with the recruiter, then they set up an in-person interview for later that week. It began with an assessment, followed by a one-on-one with a senior manager. He didn't seem super engaged, which was a real contrast to the warm welcome I got on the phone.
- What are your 5-year career aspirations?
- Describe your ideal job.
- What information do you have about our company?
Associate Recruiter
I applied through my university career center and got a call the next day. It was basically an over the phone interview, and at the end they asked me to come to Austin for an interview. I went in for the interview and it was weirdly set up. They really try to sell you on the company even though the pay is just insulting. No one can afford to live in the Austin area for how much they offer. First half of the interview was with a girl then about 20min into it a man walked in and said "Hey I know you have that call in a few minutes I'll finish up the interview." It was weird and very obvious that she did not have a call. Just be honest. They tell you that you have a quota on how often you have to be on the phone and try to convince you that you can make a ton of money in commission. Overall was an average experience but would not work here.
- What does success mean to you?
