I interviewed in August 2022 for a Payroll position. It was a 1.5 hour interview with two potential colleagues, one of whom might have been the team lead. Right away, I felt like I was wasting their time. One person was late, and despite being told there were multiple openings in the department, the vibe I got was that some unhappiness existed due to recent changes. The second person who joined was nicer, but I wouldn't have wanted to work with the first person anyway. They seemed really hostile, and I hope they've left. The department seems to have constant openings on LinkedIn over the past 2 years, which makes me wonder if turnover is high or if they're posting fake jobs. This interview was a red flag, and it was disappointing since I took time away from my family vacation for it.

This was for a part-time front desk job. I first had a phone chat with HR that went really well. After that, I had an in-person meeting with the office leaders to see if we clicked. I met with a group of 4 people who asked me questions for about an hour. They didn't really chat or ask getting-to-know-you stuff. I tried to make it more of a conversation, but they just wanted their questions answered and even challenged my answers to some of the 'what if' scenarios.

I was contacted by an internal recruiter, but they weren't very responsive. It seemed like they had other people as a higher priority, so I had to wait a while for them to reply to my messages, usually 2-4 days after I first reached out. The first interview was a screening call with HR, and then there was a Zoom call with three other people. The interview felt condescending because one of the interviewers made fun of my qualifications. I got the impression they thought they were superior and more intelligent. There was another person there who you could tell didn't want to be participating. The whole interview lacked respect and was a waste of my time because you're being interviewed by people who either think they're better than you or don't have the time to be there.

I applied on the company's website and heard back from HR within 2-3 days. They scheduled my interview about two weeks later because the senior execs were out of town. The interview went well. I first talked to HR, then the CEO and three other big execs. The CEO even tried speaking Spanish with me! They all seemed really approachable and made me feel comfortable. It seems like a very employee-focused company with an inclusive workspace where people cover for each other. The office itself was nice, about 3 floors, with a cool open atrium, plants, and flowers right in downtown Clayton.
