It was a quick interview, and since it was for a temporary gig, the manager was really looking for commitment. If you apply early and are willing to stick it out through the busy rush period (usually at the start of the semester), you've got a good shot at getting hired. Some new folks actually left during that rush. This is your best opportunity to show you're a hard worker and committed. I did that, and I even got a part-time position when things slowed down.

I met my interviewer in the lounge area of our main Commons building, right next to the bookstore. It was a really laid-back chat and didn't take more than 20 minutes. They were hiring in November for a temporary sales associate role to start in December, covering the beginning and end of semesters.

I got a response a few days after applying. During the interview, the interviewer made it clear that the job offered no benefits, was part-time, and paid minimum wage. But since I'd been looking for over a year, it's better than nothing and a good temporary option until I find something else.
