First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Barings.
Investment Analyst
It started with a cool phone chat, then we went to an in-person assessment centre where they checked how we communicate, our commercial sense, how we work in a team, and if we'd fit in culturally. It was both technical and non-tech.
- How would an equity crash affect balance sheets and the P&L statement?
Investment Analyst
It was a long process but gave a really good feel for the team and how everyone worked together. Lots of the time it felt more like a chat than a formal interview. Started with 3 interviews, then an investment pitch where we had a 30 min follow-up discussion. After that, there were 2 more interviews, finishing with HR and the global head of equity. The questions weren't meant to trick you; they were more about showing your thinking and how you deal with tough situations. Overall, a good experience!
- Given three stocks, choose one and explain your initial thoughts and analysis.
- What are your reasons for seeking a new opportunity?
- What are your career aspirations?
Private Equity Analyst
Had a quick behavioral chat with HR first. Then, I went through 3 separate 30-minute calls with the heads of different departments. Everyone was really nice and helped me out when I got stuck on a few things.
- What is your motivation for pursuing Private Equity?
- Can you explain the steps involved in a DCF analysis?
