Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Barings.
Intern
The first round was a quick phone call, under 30 minutes. They asked about job situations and how you dealt with them. It's a good idea to use the STAR method for these kinds of questions.
- Can you talk about your career path and aspirations?
- What are you interested in?
- Tell me about a time you faced a difficult situation at work.
Intern
The interview process began with an HR motivational interview, followed by an assessment center (AC) which included three interviews conducted back-to-back. The interviews focused heavily on behavioral aspects and motivation, with only a few technical questions. It was a very HR-centric process. Although it's a decent brand, the intern intake has been reduced compared to previous years.
- What motivates your interest in the buyside industry?
- Why are you interested in Barings specifically?
- Can you explain your reasons for pursuing this particular field?
Intern
The process started with a phone call where they asked motivational questions, which was pretty chill and fun. After that, I went to an assessment centre at the main office. There were three interviews with different teams and also a networking event.
- Tell me about your motivation.
- Can you tell me more about your CV?
- Can you complete this basic case study?
