The interview process started with a phone interview. After that, I was shortlisted for an Assessment Centre (AC). The AC involved back-to-back interviews with Managing Directors (MDs) and also an assessment of my networking skills with current employees. It was well organised and they told us who our interviewers would be beforehand. We also got to state our desk preferences before the AC, and they tried to place us on those desks, but ultimately it was up to the MD if they wanted you on their desk.

It started with an HR screen where they asked me how I found out about Barings and my interest in the role. They also had me rank groups I was interested in. Then, I had a Superday where I met people from those preferred groups.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

Applied online and was contacted by HR for a phone screen. It went well, then the recruiter set up 2 phone interviews with team members. A few days later, those happened. After those two calls, another team member suggested a final phone interview with a different teammate. So, three phone interviews in total. Then, I was invited to the New York office for a long day of 7 interviews back-to-back. It was a positive experience meeting people from different groups. Most questions were behavioral. Within 24 hours, I sent customized thank you emails to everyone. After the in-person interviews, HR sent instructions for an assignment, due in 24 hours (they were supposed to send it the night before but forgot, but no biggie, mistakes happen). I completed and sent the assignment. Then I went on a 2-week vacation. When I got back, I was surprised to have no updates. A few more days passed after returning to work. Nothing. I finally reached out to the recruiter for a timeline. They responded quickly saying they had news! The recruiter called to let me know they chose another candidate. The call must have reminded her to close the job online because right after, I got an auto-rejection email. Had I not asked for an update, I don't think I would have heard back. I get that many people apply, but after 4 phone chats, 7 in-person interviews, and a presentation, I feel I deserved a heads-up call or email about the rejection. The rest of the process was smooth and the Strategic RM team was great. But honestly, after this, I'm glad I didn't get the offer.
