First, I had a phone interview with HR to see if I was a good fit. Then, I had an in-office interview with a manager. Finally, I had another in-office interview with the Director of Sales.

I applied online and then the HR coordinator emailed me to set up an interview with the recruiter. This first chat with the recruiter was chill, chatty, and gave me a good vibe about the company. After that, I had an interview with two sales managers. That was also super conversational and casual, but we talked about a lot. They asked me standard but important interview questions like why I wanted to work there and how I handle stress. The third interview was a phone call with the VP of sales. The pressure was on, and it felt like a more formal interview. He really dug into my background and what I could bring to the company. He's a cool dude, even though the interview was a bit intense. I got an offer pretty quickly after that from the recruiter.

Recruiter from HR was nice and gave me info about the Account Executive role and my past experience. They mentioned it comes with a book of business and no cold-calling. Then, I had a video interview with 2 sales managers (one didn't show on video). They said it would involve A LOT of cold-calling. I got a weird vibe during the interview. They didn't really discuss my last role, but focused on an 'administrative' job I had 11 years ago when I was just out of college. I felt like they thought it was beneath them, and the job they were describing seemed more entry-level anyway. My last role was a mix of inside and outside sales with a good track record, but they fixated on that old job and questioned a gap in my resume, asking what I was doing during that time. It felt unprofessional and disrespectful. I withdrew myself from consideration the next morning.

  • What made your previous company such an effective agency for its clients?
  • Could you elaborate on the gap present in your resume?
