First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at BARC.
Scientist
It was a really friendly start with some basic HR questions, then it got super technical. They wanted to see if I really understood the core mechanical engineering concepts I'd studied. I think what really helped was explaining the 'why' behind all my answers. They're not looking for how much you know, but how deeply you understand it.
- Could you define entropy?
- What do you understand by stress?
Scientist
The interview started with me talking a bit about myself. Then, I had to write down my 4 favorite subjects, which were FM, CRE, MTO, and HT. After that, they asked some basic stuff like writing Bernoulli's equation and explaining what each part means. Then they started getting into more detailed questions.
- Can you explain the design of pipe diameter and NPSH, and how NPSH is important for designing pipelines?
- What questions do you have from CRE?
- What questions do you have from MTO?
Scientist
This was a really tough interview, maybe the hardest I've ever had. They focused intensely on my top 5 priority subjects for a full hour and asked a lot of difficult questions. They'd pick one question and really dig deep into it.
- Can you tell me about what you've been doing for the past two years?
