First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Bankers Life.
Financial Planner
I drove 30 minutes and dressed up for a 4 minute interview that could have taken place easily over the phone. It also seems that the person who interviewed me had already made their decision about me before I even showed up. I was told the interview was to “get to know me” but I’m not sure how you get to know someone in 4 minutes. The interviewer seemed to think I didn’t understand what the job was and asked me if I knew it was a sales job. Of course I did, which seemed odd to ask since I have clearly been working in sales for many years now. They also were writing down things on a sheet of paper with questions and wrote the wrong answers down that I didn’t even answer. Basically put words in my mouth. It didn’t even seem like he was paying attention to what I said. I was pretty much shoved out the door. They seemed to have their mind made up before I even showed up to the interview though and if that’s the case then I’ve lost before I’ve even showed up. It’s their loss. It could have been a very good fit but with this first impression, even if I had been offered the job I would have said no. It was sterile and impersonal. The interviewer did not take the time to get to know me AT ALL.
- Given that you know this is a sales job, what is your understanding of Bankers Life, and what motivated you to explore this career path?
- What do you know about Bankers Life?
- Why did you decide to look into this particular job career?
Financial Representative
You're treated kinda like a potential client. They'll go over their services and products with you, explaining why future clients should invest. The questions are pretty basic, and even when they ask tougher ones, they don't really expect you to know the answer.
- Have you ever committed a felony?
- Approximately how many people residing in Florida fall within the age range of 64.5 to 65 years old?
Financial Representative
It was a pretty straightforward process with lots of chances to ask questions. Having a finance background is enough for this role, depending on your career goals. They talked a lot about the sales aspect of the job, but there are chances to grow.
- What motivated you to pursue this role?
