First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Bank of Hawaii.
Marketing Analyst
First, there was a call with HR. Then I had an hour-long interview that was all behavioral questions with 2 or 3 team members. After that, I had another interview with 3 or 4 people from other departments that I might work with.

Analyst
The whole process moved quickly and felt pretty standard. They communicated well throughout and asked good questions. The interviewers were nice and asked questions that made sense and were expected. I just wish I'd gotten more info on parking later on.
- Can you share an instance where you had to overcome a challenge?
Universal Banker
It took about 2–3 weeks for them to get back to me for a phone interview. Then, about a week after that, they set up a virtual interview because I live in Minnesota. Super quick, because just an hour after the interview, the hiring manager called to say I got the job!
- What draws you to Bank of Hawaii and what makes you want to move to Hawaii for this job?
- Can you describe how you handle upset customers to make sure things end well?
- How do you work with coworkers to keep things running smoothly and positively?
Product Manager
This was one of the worst interview processes I've experienced. The recruiter asked me to schedule a final interview with only a 2-day notice. I explained I was out of town until the next week, but they ghosted me for not returning to Hawaii on such short notice. It really shows how much they expect you to go out of your way for them. When I asked the hiring manager about the company culture, he candidly admitted it was 'definitely lacking.' While I appreciate the honesty, it was a hard pass for me. Big yikes.
- Could you share your perspective on risk?
