Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Bank of Communications.
Management Trainee
So, the first thing was a written test, followed by about two to three face-to-face interviews. The face-to-face chats were pretty good, and the questions asked were average. Overall, the communication was pleasant, mainly in Mandarin with some Cantonese and English mixed in.

Relationship Manager
The hiring manager (dept head) was really harsh and mean. I left the interview feeling completely taken advantage of. Surprisingly, I got an offer really quickly even though I thought the interview went terribly. Just a heads up, they weren't truthful about the job responsibilities during the interview; what you actually do after joining is way different. For example, the manager said during the interview that you'd have a client portfolio, but after onboarding, you're expected to acquire an unachievable amount of new business, which is your target for passing probation.

Assistant Manager
I applied online and had an interview at Bank of Communications. The interview lasted about 60-80 minutes, and there was also a written test that took about an hour, covering Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. It seems the interviewer was looking for someone willing to work overtime. Mandarin is essential, though it wasn't stated in the job posting, because many colleagues are native Mandarin speakers.

- Please introduce yourself in Mandarin.
