Baltimore County Public Schools Teacher Interview Questions
& Process

I went to the main central office for an interview. First, I met with an HR representative and answered general questions about my teaching approach. Afterward, I proceeded to the school for a follow-up interview with the principal and assistant principal.

I had a screening interview with this district and was really put off. They told me they were behind on interviews and there would be a long wait, making me feel like just a number. When the principal finally called me, she didn't even remember who she was interviewing. She took me to a room with another woman, and we discussed my experience with special education and IEPs for about 10 minutes. The blonde interviewer kept interrupting me and asked me to define common terms like IEP and ABA, which caught me off guard. Afterward, I waited 10-15 minutes to meet with another woman who explained that the first two interviewers thought I knew my stuff but were put off by my perceived arrogance and annoyance, saying I used too many acronyms. She suggested I be more 'down to earth' if I interviewed with principals. I just agreed to get out of there, but I won't go back to a district that calls me arrogant.

The interview process was pretty straightforward. It involved basic teaching scenario questions. We talked about managing a classroom, creating lesson plans, and handling IEPs, among other things. They also inquired about sponsoring extracurricular activities. Additionally, we discussed the socio-economic makeup of the community where the school is situated.
