First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Baltimore County Public Schools.
Teacher
I went to the main central office for an interview. First, I met with an HR representative and answered general questions about my teaching approach. Afterward, I proceeded to the school for a follow-up interview with the principal and assistant principal.
- Can you tell me about your classroom management style?
Cleaner
It was pretty easy. They asked about cleaning procedures and what chemicals to use for different tasks. It was a group interview with many people because it was a candidate pool, but not everyone got an interview. I had to do a physical assessment, and I had already completed my background check. The hiring process was quick.
- How do you handle disagreements with supervisors?
Elementary Classroom Teacher
I applied with BCPS months ago and they finally looked at my application in August, just a week before school started. I first had to do an entrance interview back in December at a job expo. After passing that, HR put me in the candidate pool. Then, principals or schools could reach out to me. After that, I met with the school/principal, and HR made the final hiring decision.
- Can you share a strength and a weakness?

Administrative Assistant
I just took and passed the typing test. Michelle Rhinehart sent me an email with a link to sign up for a date, day, and time. Parking was difficult on the day of the test. We waited in a room near reception, and then Ms. Rhinehart called everyone for the test. She took about eight of us into a room with laptops and some papers in plastic covers. She explained the steps carefully before we started typing.
- I had difficulty with the touchscreen and adjusting the block letter spacing to single space, as the laptop seemed to default to 1 and 1/2 inch spacing.
