Manager
Tive uma boa experiência com a entrevista virtual que foi agendada pelo RH e também com o líder da vaga. Conheci o escritório, o que foi bom para a experiência do processo seletivo.
- What is your experience with people leadership?
Quality Manager
I was first contacted by a recruiter who asked me some basic questions. Then, someone from HR reached out to set up a video call. Since there weren't any locations nearby, I had to drive 2.5 hours each way for the first interview. I asked if I could do it via Skype from home, but they insisted I use their third-party company. The email said I'd meet two HR people and the plant manager, but it was just the two HR people. After that, I was asked to do a second video call, which also involved a 5-hour round trip drive. I agreed, and within an hour of finishing, they called to say they wanted to fly me out for an onsite interview. We scheduled it for the following week. A few days before I was supposed to fly out, the corporate HR person called and said the plant manager was unavailable for the already confirmed date, even though my flight and hotel were booked. We rescheduled for two weeks later, which seemed strange since they were so keen to schedule it quickly before. A few days before the rescheduled travel, I got another call. They had reviewed the job posting again and realized they wanted someone with significantly more experience, a much more senior level than they initially thought. However, they were very interested in me for a supervisory role. I looked at the new posting for that role and called the HR person back, leaving a message. I finally got through a few days before I was due to fly out again. She told me they had decided to hire an internal candidate who applied last minute. I had to take two vacation days and drive 10 hours for these interviews, and the whole experience felt very disrespectful and unprofessional. Be warned, candidates.

Manager
I applied online and a recruiter got in touch fairly quickly. First, I had a call with the recruiter, then I had zoom calls with 7 other employees. These included the hiring manager, people on my team, and 3 managers from adjacent departments. The whole thing took about 2 months, and at times I was doing 3 zoom interviews a week. Everything seemed to go well. They used a list of standard questions like 'strengths and weaknesses.' I had to keep checking in with my recruiter about the status, and at some points, I was passed between recruiters. In the end, I was told that the new CEO, who took over in APR 2022, put a hiring freeze in place, and the job wasn't available anymore. They did ask if they could hold onto my information for later in the year if the position opened back up. I've since interviewed at other companies and feel like Ball doesn't trust its managers to make hiring decisions because over 6 people need to approve. It's a lot of coordination and a waste of time to take so long to hire someone good.
