Behavioral Technical

The hiring process for this tax internship involved two interviews. Communication via email was not very responsive. A major requirement for consideration, even for an internship, is to be in the process of obtaining a CPA. The company offers substantial employee learning opportunities and expects some travel, including driving and flying, all of which are compensated.

My interview was conducted online via Zoom/Teams. It was structured like a speed dating event where I met with various team members from different levels. Although the intention was good, the execution felt a bit unnatural. The entire session lasted about an hour, with each conversation lasting around 15 minutes. There was an opportunity for both sides to ask questions. Most of the questions were straightforward and not particularly challenging. However, the experience soured during a conversation with a senior associate when I inquired about the challenges they faced at the company. This led to an uncomfortable discussion about their disappointment over being recently overlooked for a promotion, which made me feel awkward.
