Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Baker McKenzie.
Paralegal
The interview felt more like a deep chat than a strict test. They weren't just checking your legal knowledge but wanted to see how you think, if you'd fit in with the team, and how you'd work with them as a colleague. It was friendly, but they were definitely evaluating you.
- Can you explain why you're looking to switch jobs?
Legal Assistant
The interview process was fine. Mostly asked regular interview questions. However, never heard a word after the interview. It is now 6 weeks later and not even an email to say thank you but no thank you. Disappointed to say the least.
- Tell me about your experience.
- How would you contribute to our team?
- What aspects of your personality do you hope to demonstrate?
Legal Intern
It was a phone interview with the HR lady at Baker McKenzie Wong & Leow for the December internship in Singapore. The interview was very casual and had three main parts. It took about 50 minutes because we chatted about some hobby stuff in the middle.
- Can you tell me about your past internship experiences and which you enjoyed the most, along with the reasons why?
- What is your understanding of the practice area you've applied for?
- What are your thoughts on Baker, and what motivates your application to this firm?
