Axon Frontend Engineer interviews, decoded.

It was a smooth experience overall. Started with a recruiter call, then a coding interview. The final round was a panel interview with 5 people back-to-back, which involved a design discussion, two coding challenges, and a behavioral interview with the hiring manager. Everyone was super polite and seemed passionate about their work. I enjoyed the interview process, and the turnaround time for responses was quick.

Went through 4 phone screens, which was a bit much considering it should have been 2. The onsite was okay, but they really needed more space to conduct interviews and a more professional attitude from their team members. One engineer kept arguing about my JSON syntax, even after I showed them the documentation. While the engineering team isn't terrible, I suspect many are quite junior and their tech stack is a bit outdated.

So I first chatted with a recruiter who then set me up for a coffee chat with an Engineering Manager. We talked about the company and the role, and just general web dev stuff. It was great. Then I had a technical phone screen with a Sr. Engineer. He briefly explained his role and then we got into coding exercises in a shared online editor. First was FizzBuzz, then the look-and-say sequence. I kind of panicked on the second one and struggled to translate my thoughts into code under pressure. I got a solution that was close but not quite right. They decided to end my candidacy there.
