Avvo Software Engineer interviews, decoded.

I had several 1-hour meetings with people from different departments throughout the day. The last meeting was with the development manager. The whole thing took about 4-5 hours, with a lunch break in between.

The interview process was pretty smooth and I got an offer at the end of December. But they only gave me a week to decide, even though our school's policy is 2 weeks. I turned down two other offers for this one. Everything was fine until they rescinded the offer because of Avvo's acquisition. I wish I'd gotten a heads up when the acquisition happened so I could start looking for other jobs. The recruiter kept emailing me about the position until mid-February, even though the acquisition was in January. This made things difficult because I had to scramble to find something else.

I applied for the summer internship via their career website. About a month later, a recruiter reached out and we set up a phone screen. It was my first phone interview ever, and I was pretty nervous, so it didn't go that well.
