Automattic Software Engineer interviews, decoded.

I had an initial chat with HR, and then there was a technical test. For the technical test, I had to add some requirements to an existing application they provided on Github. Unfortunately, I didn't pass this test.

The whole process was pretty smooth and organized. Everyone from the interviewers to the HR folks were nice and professional. They explained everything really clearly at each step, which made the experience a really good one.

The interview process involved a Zoom call, followed by a coding test that took about a week. After passing that, I moved on to a paid project which lasted for three months. Feedback during this time was slow but generally positive. Ultimately, I was informed that the trial period was ending and I would not be hired.
