Attorney General of Washington State Legal interviews, decoded.

First you apply for the AG's office on government jobs and select all the offices you want to be considered for. Then if selected someone from the AG's office reaches out and tells you all the offices that want to interview you. You interview with them, then you are asked for your ranking of interest. They then take your ranking and if the office wanted you into account.

You pick the departments you're into when you apply. The departments then look at the apps and pick the people they want to interview. After you interview with them, you rank the departments you talked to, and they figure out internally where to place everyone. The interviews themselves were with two people from the department, and they asked a set list of questions.

Had one interview with two Assistant Attorneys General (AAGs). They made a decision within two weeks. I made sure to follow up promptly. The interview was pretty straightforward and felt collegial. It's important to show you're really passionate about a specific division.
