There was a big gap between the HR screening, the first chat with the Hiring Manager, and setting up the final rounds. But, the team was really professional and nice. They asked job/task-specific questions instead of general, hypothetical ones, and HR was really good with follow-ups.
I had an initial phone screen scheduled with the recruiter, but it got pushed back a few times on their side. When we finally talked, the recruiter told me the job was already taken, which was pretty confusing and not what I expected.
I was recruited via LinkedIn for a Product Marketing Manager role at Atlassian. The recruiter call was more than a typical phone screen, focusing on my ideas and recommendations. After that, I was scheduled to meet the hiring manager. I inquired about the seniority, and the recruiter mentioned the hiring manager preferred someone scrappy over a senior hire, despite me having comparable experience to the hiring manager. It felt like they were primarily after my ideas rather than a genuine hire, which led me to withdraw my application. I found the process to be unprofessional.
