I interviewed with five people, including the CFO and COO. They had a list of questions and took turns asking them. They stressed the importance of taking my time and giving thought to my answers. The topics covered included budgeting for charter schools, my motivations for wanting to work for APS, and managing multiple school budgets with the charter school model.
I went to a job fair and spoke with some school principals. I had emailed my resume to principals back in February. One principal invited me to a job fair that was invite-only at the beginning of May. I ended up waiting in line for over an hour to talk to a principal, and the actual interview was only about 10 minutes long. I got contacted by the principal again in late June to be offered the position at the school.
I went through a panel interview with five people from the department. Each person asked me between two and three questions. It was about fifty minutes long. The questions were mostly basic, only needing a little knowledge of the job.
