Candidate-reported interview process

The interview process was mostly behaviorals, not very technical and not too hard. They asked questions like TMAY, why Ares, why credit instead of PE, what industries are good for credit investment, and why this location.

I went through 3 rounds before the superday, but I only made it through two of them. The interviews included a mix of technical and behavioral questions, and there was also a paper LBO exercise. They asked general 3-statement and valuation questions too. The interviews weren't too difficult overall, but you definitely needed to prepare properly.

The interview was very brief. The interviewer reviewed my CV and quickly determined that my background wasn't a good match for the position, so they ended the discussion. Ideally, hiring managers should pre-screen candidate profiles before inviting them for an onsite interview. Overall, it was a pretty bad interview experience.
