Had a 15-minute screening interview with Dartmouth. It was a friendly lady, and we got straight to the questions without small talk. They seemed really busy with interviews from lots of firms. The questions were about me, why Ares, why Real Assets, and a commercial awareness question.
The interview started with questions about real estate valuation and financial statements that were clearly related to each other. Then, it moved into a mix of behavioral and technical discussions, where they really focused on leadership, analytical thinking, decision-making, and how well you communicate strategically. They wanted to see how these skills played into the overall success of the interview and the role.
