I applied online and got a response quickly. The interview process had four remote stages via Skype because I was in another state. Two employee referrals were added to my application. First, a one-way video interview where I recorded and submitted one-minute video responses to basic questions. Second, a skills and assessment test on Excel and research/writing. Then, an initial Skype interview with an Associate Director. The last stage was a two-hour Skype interview with three team members. The HR staff were proactive, friendly, and kept me informed. Although the process had multiple steps and took time, Arabella made sure I understood the role and that we were a good cultural fit.
This was a really frustrating interview process. It spanned three weeks. First, I did a video interview. Then, I completed a writing and financial activity assessment. After that, I took a personality and skills assessment, which was a quiz that took almost 2 hours. A Skype interview was scheduled next, but they canceled it the day before because three internal candidates emerged, and they decided to prioritize them.
The hiring process begins with a quick chat with HR. If you get through that, you'll have to do a take-home exercise that's specific to the practice area you're applying for, plus a written test. One part of the written test isn't timed, but the other part is a timed aptitude test with general knowledge and math questions. My experience was pretty bad because after spending a lot of time on the application, I never heard back about the next steps, even after I followed up via email. I found this unprofessional and wanted to let others know. It's not too much to ask for a response after putting in significant effort. I later found out my experience isn't unusual.
