There were a few phone interviews. They checked for knowledge and culture fit. The people were nice but the bar was high. They evaluated both fit and knowledge, but I didn't make it to the final rounds.
The interview process started with a job market paper presentation for my PhD, followed by a couple of informal calls. Then, there was a full day of interviews with several rounds. Each round had two interviewers and covered both research and technical topics. It was a good overall experience.
Started with an HR screen, then a timed Python exercise. The whole thing went pretty fast and felt professional. The exercise itself was tough, though I reckon I could have handled it better with more prep. The recruiter did a good job explaining the role and what the daily tasks would be like.
